Calabar Rovers Defeats Sporting Lagos 2 – 1

In a week four of Nigeria National League B two for Southern Conference Competition Championship last week end inside U.J. Esuene’s Stadium as the new look Rovers of Calabar FC stunned their supporters with brilliant soccer performance as the pib the visiting Sporting Lagos with two solid goals while the Lagos side pull one back to make it two goals to one.

The Rovers side opened the score in 20th minutes of the first stanza through the dribbling antics of Hyacinth Olie to ensure an early lead in the game.

Thereafter, the Sporting Lagos team ran back to make sure they play a defensive tactics in attempts to prevent the Host team from scoring more goal till the end of the first half.

On resumption of the second half, the Sporting Lagos came in determine to level the score and possible victory against the host and this efforts paid off in about five minutes as they scored an equalizing goal through Victor Samuel.

This became a ding-dong affairs as the both sides struggles for a leading curtain raizer until in the dying minutes of the game when an attacking midfielder, Joshua Chukwuma for Rovers FC collected a pass in the midfield to drible two defenders including the goal keeper to score the winning goal for the Rovers team.
