Badagry Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo honors Princess Obi-Onwu with an award over her Philanthropism

Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo in Badagry on Sunday honored Princess Adaora Obi-Onwu, the Founder and President of Noble Women and Children Initiative Network (NWCI), non-governmental organization with an award over her dedication to empowering women and youths, for her Philanthropist in the ancient town.

The prestigious award was presented to her at the Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo Badagry cultural day Celebration on Sunday.

Speaking, Chief Chuka Igwe, the Chairman Ezendigbo, Badagry affirmed that most the awardees including Princess had contributed extensively to Igbo community in Badagry and beyond.

“The significant of this is to remember our culture,and to celebrate ourselves as we are not tribe that should be hidden.

“The Igbo people in Badagry should come together to do things in unity despite the existence of betrayals.

“As pat of the event, N150m award and SME business grant was given out to support Igbo people in Badagry to further improve their business.

“Princess Obi-Onwu has made remarkable contributions to youths through NWCI, she has sponsored the education of 25 NCE students, primarily from the Igbo community in Badagry.

“She continues to champion causes that uplift vulnerable populations,” he said.

Princess Obi-Onwis is a distinguished humanitarian, accomplished professional, and advocate for women’s empowerment and social justice who hailed from Ubulu in Oru-West Local Government Area of lmo State.

A proud veteran of the Nigerian Army, she served honourably as a combatant soldier from 1994 to 2008.

Obi-Onwu said that through her NGO, she had given scholarship to lots of people.

‘They have decided to reward me, i believe this is my reward.

“I feel very happy, Infact I’m happy and humbled and this is not achieved without the help of my staffs and husband.

“To the igbo community in Badagry, I will not relent on my promises of bringing out the best in them.

“I will like everyone to know that the best investments is in humanity.

“I will tell others that have the capacity to help others to do it now, never you defer it, because you might not pass that way again.

“My NGO has given out various educational scholarships and empowerment which Badagry people and Igbo community have benefited from, even the youths are not left out,” she said.

Her leadership record spans several strategic roles, including Coordinator, Lagos West National Anti- Corruption Volunteer Corps (ICPC); Director of Gender Issues, United Nations of Youth Network Nigeria; Director of Protocol, Centre for Civil Society and Justice; and State Officer, National Anti-Corruption Coalition.

She also leads as CFO/MD of Secure Watch Innovation Nigeria Ltd and AG Havila enterprise.
