The Commandant-General’s Special Intelligence Squad (CG’s SIS) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has recorded major successes in its nationwide operations with the arrest of several suspects linked to infrastructure vandalism and other criminal activities.
The corps said in a statement on Thursday that three suspects were arrested in connection with the vandalism of a telecommunications tower in Savannah area of Potiskum Local Government Area of Yobe State.
It said the arrest followed credible intelligence indicating that the suspects were collaborating with a terrorist group to vandalise a live telecommunications facility in the area.
The statement named the suspects as Ibrahim Jibrin, 44, from Damaturu; Dahiru Ibrahim Isa, 38, from Babban Layi, Potiskum; and Usman Ali Isa, 27, from Dabar Mai Chafa, also in Potiskum.
According to investigations, Jibrin, who allegedly specialises in decommissioning telecom masts, was hired for N800,000 and had already received N200,000 as part payment from one Alhaji Kabiru from Kano before his arrest.
Exhibits recovered from the suspects include vandalised components of the tower and tools allegedly used for the operation.
The NSCDC also disclosed that its operatives arrested two suspects in Abuja for alleged phone and motorcycle snatching following intelligence received on Nov. 15, 2025.
The suspects, identified as David Moses and Nuhu Inusa, were arrested in the Gui area of the Federal Capital Territory.
The corps said stolen mobile phones were recovered from the duo, who reportedly confessed to the crime and disclosed their modus operandi.
They also allegedly revealed an accomplice who paid them with two Bajaj motorcycles valued at N400,000 and N350,000 respectively in exchange for stolen items.
In another development, three additional suspects — Akawe Uter, Sunny Obasi and Ezugwu Godwin — were arrested in connection with the earlier arrest of one George Nyitamen.
Their alleged offences include unauthorised power connection, tampering with electrical installations and harassment of staff of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).
The statement further revealed that one Vincent Haliru Maigari, 27, was arrested following a distress call for allegedly stealing plumbing materials from an apartment he was contracted to renovate near Didi/Madiba Casa Estate.
The apartment was said to be undergoing conversion into a hotel.
Maigari reportedly confessed to the crime, while some of his accomplices who fraudulently purchased the stolen items have also been arrested.
The Commandant-General of the NSCDC, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, directed all specialised units of the corps to intensify efforts in combating critical infrastructure vandalism and other forms of economic sabotage.
The Commander of the CG’s SIS, Commandant Samu Appollos Dandaura, JP, expressed optimism that sustained collaboration with the public would help the corps discharge its mandate effectively.
He assured that all the suspects would be charged to court after the completion of investigations.
