The Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, has outlined major achievements recorded within his first 100 days in office and unveiled plans to deploy drones to strengthen security surveillance across Lagos State.
Ogunsan, who was appointed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Oct. 31, 2025, spoke during a press briefing with security editors at the LSSTF headquarters in Alausa, Ikeja, where he highlighted progress made so far.
He said his immediate focus upon assumption of office was to strengthen the Fund’s financial base through strategic fundraising and stakeholder engagement, introducing new channels such as crowdfunding while deepening collaboration with corporate organisations and public institutions.
According to him, a high-level fundraising breakfast meeting brought together key public and private sector stakeholders, reinforcing shared responsibility for security and boosting confidence in the Fund’s operations.
Ogunsan disclosed that retail donation channels were revived to encourage wider public participation, while an LSSTF Monitoring Team was established to ensure accountability and proper maintenance of security assets provided to agencies.
He revealed that 80 additional operational and patrol vehicles had been deployed to enhance rapid response across the state, and that a sole donor had been secured for the construction of a permanent LSSTF office complex, expected to be delivered by October.
The LSSTF boss added that the Fund hosted its Annual Town Hall Meeting on Security, honoured outstanding officers, secured vehicle donations from automobile manufacturers, and supported tertiary institutions with security equipment to improve campus safety.
He also said the Fund backed advocacy campaigns encouraging Lagos youths to join security agencies and embarked on statewide repairs of abandoned Armoured Personnel Carriers to return them to operational use.
Looking ahead, Ogunsan said the Fund would commence statewide training programmes for security personnel and sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Nigerian Air Force and the Nigeria Police Force Airwing for aerial surveillance, including the deployment of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (drones).
He assured Lagos residents of the Fund’s continued commitment to transparency and innovation, urging individuals and organisations to support its mission of building a safer and more resilient Lagos.
