In a clear demonstration of commitment to personnel welfare and career development, the Nigeria Police Force has officially commenced the Departmental Selection Board (DSB) promotion exercise for Inspectors at the Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos.
The exercise, part of a nationwide initiative mandated across all Police Zonal formations, aims to assess qualified Inspectors eligible for promotion to the next rank.
The exercise is scheduled to run until Friday, December 5, 2025.
Presiding over the exercise at Zone 2 is the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of the Zone, AIG Adegoke M. Fayoade, psc, mni, fisn. The AIG encouraged officers to approach the process with professionalism and integrity, reiterating that the promotion system is merit-based and transparent.
In his opening remarks, AIG Fayoade congratulated participants on their qualification for the exercise, highlighting that their hard work and dedication had earned them this opportunity. He emphasized that adherence to ethical standards was crucial throughout the promotion process.
The exercise covers all eligible Inspectors serving under the Lagos and Ogun State Police Commands, who will be evaluated on competence, performance, and readiness for higher responsibility.
Assisting the AIG during the exercise are Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) overseeing critical areas. DCP Bello Adamu manages Finance and Administration, while DCP Olubode Fakeye supervises activities in the Zonal Criminal Investigation Department.
AIG Fayoade issued a stern warning against any form of misconduct, corruption, or bribery, underscoring that officers who compromise the integrity of the process would face strict disciplinary action.
The exercise is part of the broader strategy of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, to ensure that career progression within the Force rewards competence, dedication, and ethical conduct.
Personnel welfare remains a top priority for the Nigeria Police Force, and the promotion exercise reflects the Force’s determination to maintain a motivated, professional, and merit-driven workforce.
The Zone 2 Command assured that the exercise would be conducted with transparency and fairness, reinforcing the Force’s ongoing efforts to strengthen internal systems and uphold the highest standards of policing in Nigeria.
