The Treaty King of ancient City of Calabar and the Warrant Chief which was created by the Colonial Administration before 1914 Amalgamation known today as the “Paramount Rulers” in charge of Calabar South Local Government Area of Cross River State, His Royal Eminence, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi vi, Obong of Calabar and Etubom Nyong Effiom Okon has spoken in one accord that traditional Institutions remain the strongest pillars of unity in Nigeria and beyond.
This assertions was made in Calabar recently during the first official visit of the Paramount Ruler of Calabar South Local Government Area, HRM Etubom Nyong Effiom Okon to the Palace of the Efik Monarch/ Treaty King for mutual understanding, respect and co-existence.
The Obong of Calabar expressed gratitude to the Calabar South Local Government Area Monarch for his visit to the Efik throne Monarch the first ralling points for every Efik sons and daughters while urging him to find lasting Peace to the heated ongoing crisis which have suddenly pervades the people of Henshaw Town Traditional Rulers Council under Calabar South Local Government Area of the state.
He also declared that “I know that you have the capacity to handle every issue and bring peace but where you find it challenging, do not hesitate to bring peace me in and I will gladly make myself available for peace to reign in all our Efik domains. I’m passionate about peaceful co- existence.
He also explained that “leadership at all levels requires tolerance, dialogue and compromise” because as a traditional Institutions you must set the example of peace and harmony for the people because when the rulers fight amongst themselves, the Community will suffer”.
Speaking earlier, the Calabar South Local Government Area, Etubom Nyong Effiom Okon declared that the position he has now occupied as Calabar South Local Government Area Paramount Ruler is will bring change for the people.
Etubom Nyong used the opportunity to assure the Obong of Calabar that he would devote himself to sustianing peace within Calabar South.
On the institution of peaceful situation, Etubom Nyong Effiom promise that he will join hand with the Obong’s Palace to upligt the Efik throne to enviable hieght.
