The 12th Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Professor Offiong Effanga Offiong has declared that his administration as the Vice Chancellor of the institution will be ready to confront with certain method used in the past which do not produce positive results for the benefits of the University to others option that would be productive to the institution without any apology.
This assertion was made in Calabar during the investiture of ushering in the first indigenous member of the University of Calabar host Community to emerge as the institution’s Vice Chancellor after 50 years of its existence.
The 12th Vice Chancellor also declared that he will lead the institution with integrity, transparency and a listening ear as well as be a servants leader for the entire University Community but promise to exercise low tolerance for indiscipline including admission racketeering and fraudulent NYSC mobilization while he will ensure the reactivation of a Central Admission Committee with strict adherance to Jamb admission guidelines.
Professor Offiong used the opportunity to charge the staff of the institution to embrace hard work as he will not condone indolence as any person who is not on official assignments outside the University but absent from their duty post are better advised to regularize their status or consider resignation.
For the students of the University of Calabar, the new boss advice them to embrace the time the spent in the institution meaningfully and strive to be their best while his administration will support them with a conducive environment to realize their full potentials for the next five years because he will ensure total elimination of opportunity for extortion and other abuses.
The former ASUU Chairman, University of Calabar Chapter now Vice Chancellor expressed regrets that the University of Calabar have been on the tips of media professionals with battered narrative for too long and such urgly trend ends now while he will consciously work to rebrand the University of Calabar as Center of serious intellectual engagement and a hub for technology, research and innovation.
