Otunba Olufemi Orioye, a broadcaster widely admired for his voice and influence across Nigeria’s media landscape, is set to receive special recognition from Transquest Media Group.
The announcement comes ahead of the organisation’s 20th anniversary celebration, a milestone the group says it intends to mark with class, reflection and honour.
According to the management, the event will hold at the Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, on December 6, 2025, where professionals, dignitaries and industry watchers are expected to gather.
In a jointly signed statement, the Managing Director and Chairman of the Organising Committee, Mr Felix O. Kumuyi, and the Board Chairman, Chief Olufemi Ogunsusi, described Orioye as a shining example of dedication to media ethics.
They noted that the decision to celebrate him was inspired not only by his journalistic prowess but also by his social responsibility efforts beyond the newsroom.
Orioye, currently with the Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation (OGBC), Abeokuta, has spent years shaping narratives, mentoring younger broadcasters and representing the industry with dignity.
The statement recalled that his outstanding performance in the field earned him the Merit Award for Outstanding Media Practice, among other recognitions.
It also highlighted his advocacy as convener of Campaign Against Drug Abuse and Cultism, an NGO pushing awareness campaigns at grassroots level.
Through this initiative, he has championed a community-based movement aimed at reducing drug use, offering young people alternatives that build rather than destroy.
Transquest Media Group said this blend of professional excellence and social impact earned him a place on its honour roll for 2025.
As part of the anniversary activities, the group announced that it will host a one-day transport and maritime seminar, expected to spark policy conversations.
The theme of the seminar — “Attaining Africa’s Trade/Maritime Hub: Leveraging Nigeria’s Maritime Potentials to Drive Economic Growth” — speaks to the nation’s push for economic revitalisation.
The event will be chaired by Professor Bamidele Badejo, while Professor Iyiola Oni of the University of Lagos will serve as guest speaker.
Organisers say the highpoint of the day will be a panel discussion featuring sector experts and CEOs, crafted to encourage deep dialogue rather than passive listening.
They describe the anniversary celebration as not just an award ceremony, but a gathering designed to inspire, engage and reposition the maritime industry for national development.
