The Kano State Police Command said Tuesday it has recovered a stolen government vehicle attached to the Governor’s Advance Teams.
The white Toyota Hilux was reported missing from the Government House on November 11, 2025, triggering a state-wide alert.
State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, ordered heightened surveillance at all entry and exit points across Kano State following the report.
He also directed urgent efforts to recover the vehicle and apprehend those responsible.
Police said the operation was guided by intelligence-led investigations and continuous follow-up by officers.
The suspect, identified as Ya’u Inuwa, is a 50-year-old driver employed at the Government House.
Inuwa was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the theft, the police statement said.
The stolen vehicle was recovered in Unguwa Uku, Yan Awaki Quarters, Kano, police added.
The Toyota Hilux is currently in police custody as investigations continue.
During questioning, Inuwa reportedly confessed to conspiring with two other individuals.
Police said the other two suspects remain at large and efforts are ongoing to locate them.
The Police Command thanked officials of the Government House for promptly reporting the theft.
Authorities assured the public of their commitment to a thorough investigation and to bringing all perpetrators to justice.
