The Lagos Continental Hotel’s third floor was transformed into a radiant haven of elegance and spiritual warmth on Sunday, December 7, as the much-anticipated SPAW – Symphony of Praise and Worship – Concert unfolded in grand style. The event, convened by renowned gospel artiste Dr. Ajoke Olufunmilola Ogunsan, popularly known as Dr. Ajokesings, brought together music lovers, worshippers, dignitaries, and creatives for an unforgettable evening of praise.
Guests were greeted on a meticulously curated red carpet, complete with a music-themed backdrop that offered perfect opportunities for interviews and star-studded moments. The atmosphere was immediately set by a sweet orchestral performance led by Leke Abiola and his Wonder Skills band, whose harmonic pieces resonated through the hall as attendees checked in.
The evening’s ambience was elevated by a delectable array of mocktails and finger foods, a 360-degree dance booth, and an inviting aesthetic setup. Inside the Grand Ballroom, which comfortably houses 1,400 guests, elegant décor shimmered under warm lights, creating a visual feast that complemented the spiritual energy in the room.
The concert commenced with a breathtaking performance by the exceptional Praise4One musical group, whose powerful praise set the tone for the night. The energy seamlessly transitioned to the SPAW Talent Quest segment, which had discovered young gospel sensations in October. The top three winners – Praise Moses, Dharmie Hilz, and Isioma Charles – delivered a stirring rendition of “Great Is Thy Faithfulness,” earning resounding applause.
Next, the dynamic JTrybe group led attendees into another moving session of worship, further amplifying the spirit of devotion that permeated the hall. Their performance underscored the concert’s dual celebration of musical artistry and heartfelt spiritual expression.
Anticipation reached its peak with the grand entrance of Dr. Ajokesings herself. Her rendition of the hit song Osuba Re captivated the audience, earning a standing ovation and setting the stage for the evening’s stellar lineup of gospel performers.
The concert continued with electrifying performances from gospel stars including Eno Michael, Limoblaze, AEO, Omoarugbo Ojo, Hope Activate, Bata Girl, and Pelumi Deborah. Each act brought unique flair and passion, weaving a tapestry of worship that resonated deeply with attendees.
As the night progressed, the music intensified, culminating in vibrant praise sessions led by Bee JaySax’s triumphant trumps, Emma Oh My God’s melodic hymns, and the dynamic energy of Lilian Nneji’s performance, leaving the audience uplifted and spiritually invigorated.
In her post-concert remarks, Dr. Ajoke Ogunsan expressed heartfelt gratitude to God and all those who contributed to the event’s success. “I want to thank God Almighty, the Maker of heaven and earth, for granting me the opportunity to host SPAW Concert with the people of God,” she stated.
She also acknowledged the support of her team, dignitaries, and notable attendees, including Lagos State Governor Dr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the First Lady, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu. They were ushered into the hall by Dr. Ajokesings’ husband, Dr. Ayo Ogunsan, Executive Secretary/CEO of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund.
Reflecting on her journey, Dr. Ajokesings recalled the UK edition of the concert and the personal encouragement she received from her husband, emphasizing the power of support in bringing SPAW to life. She also extended gratitude to the Adebutu family, AIG of Zone 2 Police Command AIG Adegoke Fayoade and his wife, and other distinguished guests.
Beyond entertainment, Dr. Ajokesings delivered a message of hope and unity to the nation. “I want to tell Nigerians to rejoice in the Lord whatever the situation is in the country. This season is one of joy, happiness, and blessings. God answers our prayers, and through our prayers, great testimonies will emerge.”
She continued, “Nigeria is blessed, we are blessed, from the South, East, West, and North. Nigeria you are great. Let us hold onto faith and embrace the blessings that God has in store for us.”
The 2025 SPAW Concert concluded as a resounding success, leaving attendees inspired, spiritually nourished, and already anticipating the next edition. The night was a seamless blend of music, faith, and communal joy, cementing SPAW’s place as a premier celebration of gospel artistry and worship in Nigeria.
