The Rivers State Police Command on Tuesday denied reports that it had withdrawn the police orderly assigned to Hon. Justice Mrs. Augusta Kingsley Chukwu.
The police described the social media claims as false and misleading, emphasizing that the officer’s temporary absence was due to routine operational duties, not any targeted action against the judiciary.
According to the command, the officer was part of a group deployed on emergency duty to Anambra State for the off-cycle gubernatorial election.
“The deployment was a routine operational requirement affecting multiple personnel and was not exclusive to the judiciary,” the police statement said.
Officials confirmed that the officer would immediately return to the judge’s security detail upon completion of the assignment.
The police stressed that the action should not be interpreted as a withdrawal of protection for any judicial officer.
“We are all partners in the administration of criminal justice and remain committed to providing security for judges while they discharge their duties,” the statement added.
The command described the deployment as a legitimate national assignment, carried out in accordance with operational needs.
The police urged the public to disregard misleading social media reports and assured citizens of its commitment to maintaining safety across Rivers State.
SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the Police Public Relations Officer, signed the statement, reaffirming the command’s dedication to safeguarding both the judiciary and the general public with integrity.
