The Nigerian leader described the discussion as constructive and candid, noting that the two sides agreed to prioritize peace over conflict, hope over fear, and unity over division. He said both countries recognized the concerns that had been raised as genuine and would take the necessary steps to address them.

In his address to the nation, President Tinubu reassured Nigerians that the protection of citizens remains the core responsibility of his administration. He emphasized that every Nigerian, irrespective of faith or origin, must feel secure and enjoy the full protection of the state.

He stated that his government, in partnership with the United States, would strengthen existing security cooperation and expand areas of mutual interest to prevent any recurrence of incidents that could endanger individuals or communities. Tinubu said this collaboration would reinforce Nigeria’s security framework and global partnerships.

The President said that his administration is determined to translate commitments into visible actions, stressing that Nigerians would soon witness tangible results across the federation. He added that the government is moving beyond unfulfilled promises of the past to deliver measurable progress.

He called on Nigerians to continue their lawful activities with confidence, assuring that security agencies are fully prepared to tackle any emerging threats across the country. He noted that his government would not relent in its responsibility to protect lives and property.

Tinubu acknowledged that public frustration over government performance in the past was legitimate, describing such expressions as valuable lessons in accountability and governance. He pledged that his administration would continue to listen to citizens’ concerns and act with transparency and responsibility.

The President said his discussion with Trump also focused on strengthening bilateral ties between Nigeria and the United States, emphasizing that both countries share a long-standing relationship built on cooperation, security, and mutual respect.

He reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to upholding democratic values, human rights, and the rule of law, adding that no Nigerian should ever feel ashamed of their citizenship. According to him, the dignity and rights of citizens remain central to his government’s policies.
