The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a suspect in connection with a robbery and homicide that occurred in Ngaski Local Government Area of the state.
The case centres on the death of Ibrahim Yahaya, a 25-year-old man whose body was discovered in a forested area of the community.
Police said the lifeless body of the victim was found on December 16, 2025, at about 8:30 a.m. in Bakin Dutsi Forest, triggering an immediate investigation.
The discovery sent shockwaves through the area, prompting heightened security attention and concern among residents.
Following the report, operatives of the Kebbi State Police Command swiftly mobilised to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killing.
Investigations were driven by credible intelligence, which the Command said proved crucial in tracking down a suspect within hours.
The suspect, identified as Aminu Adamu, is a 20-year-old male from Yauri Local Government Area.
Police said Adamu was arrested at about 2:20 p.m. on the same day the body was discovered.
At the time of his arrest, he was allegedly found in possession of a Haojue motorcycle believed to have been stolen from the deceased.
The recovery of the motorcycle, police sources said, provided a significant breakthrough in linking the suspect to the crime.
In line with the directive of the Commissioner of Police, the matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
The SCID is expected to conduct a detailed and thorough investigation to establish the full circumstances of the robbery and homicide.
Police authorities have assured that the investigation will be comprehensive and guided strictly by due process.
The Command stressed that anyone found culpable in the case would be prosecuted accordingly.
Reassuring the public, the police said the security situation in Ngaski and other parts of the state remains under control.
