Polaris Bank has announced the commencement of its 2025 Free Prostate Cancer Screening Programme, reaffirming its commitment to advancing men’s health and preventive care in Nigeria.
The initiative, launched in partnership with the Men’s Health Clinic, marks the Bank’s second consecutive year of sponsoring large-scale prostate cancer screenings for men aged 40 and above.
This year’s campaign is themed “Men, Your Health Matters – Get Screened Today!” and aims to build on the significant social and health impact recorded during the 2024 edition.
The programme will run from November 24 to December 31, 2025, offering 250 fully sponsored screening slots on a first-come, first-served basis.
Prostate cancer remains the second most common cancer among Nigerian men, with thousands at risk due to low awareness and limited access to early diagnostic services.
Polaris Bank noted that early detection remains the most effective strategy for reducing mortality, with survival rates exceeding 98% when the disease is identified at an early stage.
The Bank will provide a comprehensive screening package that includes a PSA blood test, Digital Rectal Examination (DRE), and one-on-one specialist consultation at no cost to beneficiaries.
Speaking on the initiative, Polaris Bank’s Managing Director/CEO, Kayode Lawal, highlighted the institution’s focus on sustainability-driven corporate responsibility.
According to him, the feedback from the 2024 programme reinforced the Bank’s belief that early detection saves lives and that corporate organizations must play a proactive role in community health.
Lawal added that the Bank remains committed to removing financial and psychological barriers that often discourage men from seeking preventive healthcare.
Also commenting, the Founder and Chief Medical Director of Men’s Health Clinic, Akin Oteniya, described the renewed partnership as a progressive step in strengthening men’s health interventions nationwide.
Oteniya emphasized that last year’s joint effort set a benchmark for corporate support in healthcare, and expressed confidence that the 2025 edition would deliver even greater outcomes.
To participate, eligible men are required to have or open a Polaris Bank account, a measure designed to streamline registration and communication throughout the screening process.
The Bank clarified that non-customers can opt to open an account instantly during registration, with zero opening balance and no maintenance charges.
