- Programme to run nationwide from November 11 to 28
Abuja, Nigeria — The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) has entered into a partnership with the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) as its official media partner for the 2025 edition of the Nigerian Children National Crime Awareness Month.
According to a statement signed by the National Director of Citizens Engagement, POCACOV, Olafemi George, and made available to the National President of NAOSNP, Mayor Oki O. Samson, the month-long programme will hold from November 11 to 28, 2025.
Themed “We Are the Children of Nigeria — Our Lives Matter,” the initiative aims to raise awareness among Nigerian children on issues of crime prevention, moral development, and responsible citizenship.
The statement explained that the awareness month was conceived to give Nigerian children a stronger voice in national discourse, while sensitizing them on the dangers of crime, drug abuse, cultism, and moral decline.
It noted that the project was driven by the belief that there comes a time when a nation must pause and look into the eyes of its children to determine the kind of future it seeks to protect.
According to the statement, the voices of Nigerian children are growing louder every day, calling to be heard, seen, and rescued from the rising threats of social vices and insecurity that continue to plague communities.
“This November, under the theme ‘Our Lives Matter,’ Nigerian children will stand not as spectators, but as voices of hope to lead the first-ever National Children Crime Awareness Month,” the statement said.
It added that the campaign would not be a ceremonial event but a movement for national rebirth, focused on awakening collective responsibility toward safeguarding the nation’s younger generation.
In a historic move, the flag-off of the campaign will be conducted by Nigerian children themselves, directly from classrooms and school grounds across the 36 states of the federation.
Each child, the statement continued, will rise and declare to the nation and the world, “We are the children of Nigeria — our lives matter,” as a symbolic reminder of their place in shaping Nigeria’s future.
POCACOV commended NAOSNP for its long-standing role in advancing public safety, security awareness, and responsible journalism in Nigeria.
The statement described NAOSNP as the conscience of the nation and expressed confidence that the association’s support would give the campaign a national voice and visibility.
It stated that the partnership would amplify the message of hope and restoration, reinforcing the belief that Nigeria’s future remains bright through its children who still believe in peace, unity, and the power of goodness.
The 2025 awareness programme will feature a series of activities including a National Prayer and Flag-off on November 11, a 2-Kilometre National Awareness Walk on November 12, and a National Letter-Writing Day themed “Letter to the President” on November 17.
Other lined-up events include a National Drawing Day on November 20 themed “Face of Motherhood,” and the screening of the official National Crime Awareness film in schools nationwide on November 28.
