The Ondo State Police Command has recorded another operational success in its ongoing efforts to maintain law and order across the state. The interception highlights the Command’s proactive approach to crime prevention and recovery of stolen property.

The breakthrough was made under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, who continues to emphasize operational efficiency and strategic guidance for all units across the state. The Command also expressed appreciation for the Inspector-General of Police for his continued support.

Operatives of the Special Investigation Squad, popularly known as the Scorpion Squad, were on routine patrol within the New Stadium Area, Araromi, Akure, when they observed a suspicious individual acting oddly.

The suspect, identified as Salisu Mohammed, a 25-year-old male, was immediately stopped and searched by the patrol team. Officers discovered that he was concealing several industrial cutting tools in a sack.

Items recovered included miter saws, a metal cut-off saw, and circular saws, all of which are valued in thousands of naira. The collection represents significant industrial equipment, raising questions about their source.

Following the discovery, Mohammed was subjected to preliminary interrogation. He could not provide a credible explanation regarding ownership or the source of the tools, heightening suspicion of criminal intent.

The suspect claimed he purchased the tools as “condemned iron,” but investigators found this explanation inconsistent and insufficient to account for the high value of the recovered items.

The Command has secured all exhibits for safekeeping, ensuring that they are preserved for further investigation and possible return to legitimate owners.

Mohammed is currently in police custody, cooperating with investigators as inquiries continue. Authorities have assured the public that a thorough and professional investigation is underway.

Members of the public who have recently lost cutting machines or tools matching the descriptions provided in the release are advised to report to the Ondo State Police Command Headquarters. Valid proof of ownership will be required to facilitate recovery.
