The Executive Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. (Barrister) Oluyemisi Adenike Rosiji, has said her administration will prioritise agriculture, road infrastructure and empowerment programmes in the council’s 2006 budget to improve the living standards of residents.
Rosiji stated this on Monday while presenting the budget, tagged “Budget of Positive Impact and Transformation,” at the council’s Legislative Chambers in Ijaiye, Ojokoro, Lagos State.
She said the budget was designed to deepen grassroots development through collaboration with key stakeholders, including legislators, councillors, council workers and the people of Ojokoro, to ensure sustainable growth across the area.
The council boss commended the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu, for what she described as purposeful leadership and policy direction that had enabled local councils to function effectively.
According to Rosiji, the council recorded notable achievements within the first five months of her administration, particularly in grassroots development, security architecture, service delivery and infrastructure.
She listed some of the interventions to include road rehabilitation projects, installation of solar-powered street lights, Information and Financial Technology (IFT) training for youths and other community-focused initiatives.
Rosiji said the 2006 fiscal plan would place renewed emphasis on strengthening internal revenue generation, blocking revenue leakages and promoting transparency and accountability in governance.
She added that women empowerment programmes would be expanded in alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC).
The chairman further disclosed that the council would pursue mechanised farming initiatives, as well as investments in education and healthcare, to enhance social infrastructure.
She also announced plans to roll out empowerment projects valued at N100 million, assuring residents that the programmes would be implemented with diligence and transparency.
Rosiji reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, saying: “Together, we will continue to build an Ojokoro LCDA that works for all and delivers the dividends of democracy to our people.”
