The Ogun State Police Command has announced a shooting range exercise for its officers, scheduled to take place on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. The training is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen operational readiness and enhance law enforcement efficiency across the state.
The exercise will be held at the 35 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Alamala Barracks, Abeokuta. Officials said the location provides a secure environment for officers to hone their marksmanship skills.
According to the Command, shooting range exercises are an essential component of continuous professional development, aimed at ensuring that officers are well-prepared to handle evolving security challenges.
Residents and commuters in and around the Alamala area have been advised to exercise caution and avoid the designated exercise zones for the duration of the training.
The Police Command reassured the public that strict safety measures have been put in place to prevent accidents and ensure that the exercise proceeds smoothly.
Officials also clarified that the sounds of gunfire, which may be heard during the exercise, are normal and should not cause alarm. These are controlled drills carried out under strict supervision.
The Command emphasized that officers participating in the exercise are trained personnel who will follow standard safety protocols at all times.
It also stressed the importance of public cooperation, noting that residents’ compliance with safety advisories will help guarantee a secure training environment.
Police further advised that the exercise is vital not only for officers’ professional growth but also for the overall safety of residents, as well-trained personnel contribute to stronger community security.
In addition to the exercise, the Command urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their neighborhoods. Such cooperation, officials said, is crucial for maintaining peace and order.
