Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) has once again secured its place at the top of corporate Nigeria’s tax-compliance rankings, winning the Federal Inland Revenue Service’s (FIRS) “Most Compliant Taxpayer” award for 2025.
The recognition, announced during the FIRS Day at the Lagos International Trade Fair, underscores the company’s sustained commitment to meeting national tax obligations with transparency and consistency.
The award forms part of the FIRS Compliant Taxpayer Award and Recognition Programme, an initiative of the agency’s Taxpayer Services Department designed to spotlight organisations that demonstrate an outstanding compliance culture.
This year’s honour marks NLNG’s third major tax-related recognition from the FIRS in recent years, following its win as Most Compliant Taxpayer in 2024.
The company had earlier earned the title of Most Supportive Taxpayer in 2021, when it played a critical role in helping the FIRS surpass its revenue collection targets.
In a statement, the FIRS praised NLNG for its “consistent and exemplary record” of compliance, adding that such conduct helps strengthen Nigeria’s revenue base and drives economic development.
The service noted that NLNG’s transparent processes provide a model for other corporations, reinforcing the importance of accountability in the nation’s fiscal landscape.
Representatives of the company—including Anne-Marie Palmer-Ikuku, Manager, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs; Ibukun Oni, Head of Tax Planning and Strategy; and Iwokiri Aprioku, Head of Public Relations—received the award.
The team accepted the honour alongside senior FIRS officials, including Director Dr. Odunsi and the Head of the Taxpayer Services Department, Dr. Loveth Onanuga.
The brief ceremony at the trade fair highlighted the growing collaboration between the tax regulator and compliant corporate entities as Nigeria intensifies efforts to expand its non-oil revenue base.
NLNG’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Philip Mshelbila, described the award as a validation of the company’s culture of responsibility and fiscal discipline.
“This recognition from the Federal Inland Revenue Service is deeply appreciated,” he said, noting that the honour reflects the combined effort of the board, management and staff.
Mshelbila stressed that NLNG takes pride in contributing its fair share to national development and remains committed to practices that support Nigeria’s economic stability.
He added that tax compliance forms a central part of the company’s corporate values and aligns with its ambition to remain a globally competitive energy company built on integrity and sustainability.
