NIMASA’s New Board Roots For Robust Blue Economy

Members of Governing Board, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), have expressed commitment to supporting Executive Management in delivering on its mandate.

Chairman, Board of the Agency Hon. Yusuf Hamisu Abubakar, who made this remark at inaugural meeting of the Board assured that the members would stand firmly by the Agency to help realise its mandate, of actualising a robust Blue Economy in Nigeria.

While expressing satisfaction with Management of the Agency he said the Agency has signed a performance bond with Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, which will serve as the Key Performance Indicators to measure it’s achievements.

“As a Board, we are determined to work with the Management to ensure the full realization of activities that will help shape policy direction for the Agency.” Abubakar declared.

Director General/Chief Executive Officer of NIMASA, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to core mandate of promoting and regulating shipping, maritime safety, security, and marine environment protection in Nigeria.

He emphasized that the support of the Governing Board would further strengthen NIMASA’s capacity to drive initiatives aligned with the Federal Government’s vision for a sustainable Blue Economy.

According to a statement signed by Edward Osagie, Head, Public Relations of the Agency Mobereola reiterated that NIMASA Executive Management would continue to work closely with the Board and relevant stakeholders to foster an enabling environment for investment, enhance maritime infrastructure, and build human capacity in the Maritime sector.
