The Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dayo Mobereola, has underscored the pivotal role of engineering professionalism in advancing Nigeria’s maritime sector and driving sustainable development within the Blue Economy.
Dr. Mobereola made this assertion while receiving the leadership of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), led by its President, Engr. Margaret Aina Oguntala, during a courtesy visit to the Agency’s headquarters in Lagos.
He emphasized that the expertise and innovation offered by Nigerian engineers are vital to the development of maritime infrastructure, adding that NIMASA remains committed to deepening collaboration with the NSE. This, he noted, aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the overarching goals of the Blue Economy.
In her remarks, Engr. Oguntala expressed the NSE’s strong alignment with the Blue Economy initiative, highlighting the Society’s dedication to supporting national development through engineering excellence. She affirmed that strengthened cooperation between NSE and NIMASA will foster innovation, accelerate infrastructure growth, and contribute significantly to Nigeria’s economic sustainability.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to forging a closer partnership to advance the maritime industry and the nation’s economic interests.
