The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines & Agriculture (NACCIMA) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Mr. Olusegun Awolowo Jr., a prominent legal practitioner and technocrat whose career was marked by exemplary service and leadership.
Until his demise, Mr. Awolowo Jr. served as CEO of the Nigeria AfCFTA Coordinating Office (NAC), where he played a pivotal role in coordinating Nigeria’s participation in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). His work helped strengthen the nation’s trade framework and positioned Nigeria strategically in continental commerce.
Before his tenure at NAC, he made significant contributions as Executive Director/CEO of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC). Under his leadership, the NEPC advanced Nigeria’s export infrastructure, championed local enterprises, and facilitated the country’s integration into global trade markets.
Mr. Awolowo Jr. was the grandson of the late nationalist and statesman, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, GCFR, a lineage that reflects a long-standing commitment to public service and nation-building. His life continued this legacy, blending tradition with modern public administration and policy innovation.
NACCIMA described his passing as a solemn moment for the nation, noting that his dedication, professionalism, and strategic foresight left an indelible mark on both public and private sector institutions.
