An author, Mrs Helen Majemite, has urged women to embrace confidence and leadership, saying they should never shrink their strengths or hide their abilities in society.
Majemite made the call on Thursday in Lagos at the launch of her book, A Letter to All Women, alongside the unveiling of The Women’s Leadership Camp Initiative (TWLCI).
She said the book was written to speak directly to women who shoulder silent burdens while holding families, workplaces and communities together.
According to her, many women are constantly strong for others but are rarely given the space or permission to be strong for themselves.
The author explained that the publication also targets women rebuilding their lives after emotional, physical or financial setbacks.
She noted that the book highlights the struggles of mothers juggling multiple responsibilities without adequate support, as well as young women who constantly question their worth.
Majemite said each chapter draws from her personal battles and victories, as well as stories of women who faced adversity but refused to give up.
She stressed that the core message of the book is that every woman matters and that her experiences are valid and meaningful.
According to her, when a woman rediscovers herself, the positive impact extends to her family, community and the nation.
Majemite also said the newly launched TWLCI platform aims to empower low-income women financially by equipping them with practical skills to grow their businesses.
She added that the initiative would help women become more dynamic and better positioned to contribute to economic development.
The author expressed gratitude to her husband, Chief Fred Majemite, her children and extended family for their support throughout the writing process.
In a keynote address, the Chief Executive Officer of Women For Women International, Mrs Thelma Ekiyor-Solanke, represented by Ms Doris Okechukwu, urged women to embrace resilience.
She said rising from challenges “with grace, strength and purpose” was essential for personal and collective progress.
Ekiyor-Solanke noted that the dual launch was meant to inspire action and provide women with the confidence and tools needed to step into leadership roles within their communities.
“When women lead, families thrive. Communities grow. Nations change,” she said.
In her welcome address, the Executive Director of Empathy Driven Women International Initiative (EDWIIV), Dr Adiya Ngozichukwuka, described the event as a celebration of the resilience and beauty of womanhood.
She said A Letter to All Women invites readers on a journey of healing, self-discovery and growth, emphasising faith, hope and determination.
The event featured a panel session on women, leadership and resilience, with panelists including Dr Chinyere Almona, Dr Patrick Ijewere and Mrs Folusho Gbadamosi, who called for self-awareness, collaboration and greater societal respect for women.
Dignitaries at the event included the President of the Maritime Arbitrators Association of Nigeria, Chief Jean Chiazor Anishere (SAN), former General Manager of the Nigerian Ports Authority, Mrs Nana Yakubu, Hajia Bola Muse, Mr Emuobonuvie Majemite, and guests from Nigeria and the diaspora.
