LG Electronics Nigeria has reaffirmed its growing influence in Nigeria’s economy, highlighting its roles in innovation, job creation, human capital development and social responsibility at the End-of-Year Engagement Forum of the Commerce and Industry Correspondents Association of Nigeria (CICAN).
Speaking at the event, the company said modern consumer electronics have moved beyond luxury status to become essential economic tools that drive communication, productivity, education, healthcare and innovation across the country.
LG Electronics revealed that through its wide range of products including televisions, refrigerators, washing machines and air conditioners, the company has continued to improve the quality of life of millions of Nigerian households while supporting the nation’s digital transformation agenda.
Beyond product delivery, the company emphasized that its contribution to the economy extends to job creation and enterprise development through its nationwide distribution networks, service centres, logistics operations and retail partnerships.
It was disclosed that thousands of Nigerians earn their livelihoods either directly or indirectly through LG’s operations, while the company also supports technical training and workforce development to equip young Nigerians with modern technological skills.
LG Electronics Nigeria further stressed that corporate success must be matched with social responsibility, noting that its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives are built on long-term commitment rather than charity.
Over the years, the company has impacted communities through donations of electronics to schools and hospitals, support for underprivileged communities, educational initiatives for youths, humanitarian gestures and partnerships aimed at improving living and learning conditions.
On sustainability, LG highlighted its promotion of energy-efficient products as part of global efforts to address environmental challenges while also helping Nigerian households reduce electricity consumption and energy costs.
The company also described its role in strengthening Nigeria’s global trade outlook, noting that as an international brand operating locally, it promotes technology transfer, best industry practices and global confidence in Nigeria’s consumer electronics market.
LG Electronics Nigeria concluded by applauding the role of commerce and industry journalists in shaping public understanding of economic growth, pledging continued partnership in promoting development, innovation and responsible corporate citizenship in Nigeria.
