Lagos State Government (LASG) has announced a traffic diversion plan to ease congestion during ongoing rehabilitation works on the Lekki–Ajah corridor.
The government said the plan aims to minimize disruption for commuters and residents, particularly during the upcoming high-traffic festive period.
Officials acknowledged concerns raised by road users and promised timely updates on project developments.
The rehabilitation will be executed in carefully phased sections, ensuring that only specific portions of the corridor are under repair at any given time.
The phased approach is intended to preserve smooth movement along the main carriageway while work is ongoing.
Alternative routes, including the Coastal Road and adjoining service lanes, are being enhanced to accommodate diverted traffic.
Government said these routes will offer smoother movement and help prevent congestion during repair activities.
A night-shift construction strategy has also been introduced, allowing major work to be carried out when traffic volumes are lower.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will deploy personnel along the corridor to manage traffic, prevent gridlock, and respond to emergencies.
Peak-period traffic management measures have been put in place to ensure steady flow despite ongoing repairs.
Officials emphasized that the rehabilitation project is designed to improve commuting safety and efficiency, not to create additional hardship for residents.
LASG appealed for patience and cooperation from motorists while construction continues.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to delivering modern, world-class infrastructure across Lagos State.
Authorities said regular engagement with the public will continue throughout the project to ensure transparency and timely communication.
