The Kebbi State Police Command has reported the neutralization of a suspected Lakurawa bandit in Yeldu, Arewa Local Government Area, following a violent raid on Kwagware village.
The incident occurred on 5th November 2025 at approximately 3:30 PM, when a gang of armed suspected bandits attacked the village.
According to the police, the intruders carried sophisticated weapons and targeted the residents for livestock theft and mobile phone snatching.
Several cows were reportedly rustled, and multiple GSM handsets belonging to villagers were taken during the attack.
Upon receiving reports of the invasion, the Divisional Police Officer of Yeldu mobilized a combined team of police officers and local vigilantes.
The security team pursued the bandits into the surrounding areas, engaging them in a fierce gun duel.
As a result of the encounter, one suspected Lakurawa bandit was neutralized, while others reportedly fled into the forest with possible fatal injuries.
The villagers, reacting to the incident, destroyed one unregistered Boxer motorcycle believed to belong to the bandits.
During the operation, authorities also recovered a Tecno GSM handset at the scene.
Following this success, additional police tactical units, military personnel, and local vigilantes have been deployed to the affected area.
The deployment aims to restore normalcy, apprehend and neutralize the fleeing members of the suspected terror group, and prevent any potential reprisal attacks.
The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M. Sani, commended the quick response of the combined team.
CP Sani emphasized the need for continued coordination between police, military, and vigilante forces to decisively tackle criminal elements across the state.
The police have assured residents of heightened security measures and encouraged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
