The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M. Sani, paid an official visit to the NYSC Orientation Camp in Basaura, Jega Local Government Area, on Monday, underscoring the command’s commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment for corps members.
Accompanied by his management team, CP Sani met with deployed security personnel, urging them to maintain high levels of vigilance and professionalism while on duty. He emphasized the importance of proactive policing to prevent any untoward incidents during the ongoing orientation exercise.
The Police Chief reminded officers not to cluster in one location but to remain mobile, attentive, and fully engaged in their assigned duties. “Security is a collective responsibility,” he said, calling for seamless coordination among all deployed units.
CP Sani encouraged security operatives to synergize with other security agencies and camp officials to strengthen the overall protection framework of the orientation camp. He highlighted that collaboration would ensure a peaceful and orderly environment for all participants.
The visit included a review of the camp’s security architecture, where the CP examined existing arrangements and identified areas for improvement. He stressed that the safety of corps members and staff remains a top priority for the command.
Key stakeholders attended the closed-door security review, including the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security, Alhaji Haliru Wasagu; the Security Adviser to the Executive Governor, Col. Hassan Ribah (rtd); and the Kebbi State NYSC Coordinator, Alhaji Bala Dabo Kagarko.
The meeting also saw the participation of the Commanding Officer of No. 36 PMF, Birnin Kebbi, ACP Aliyu Abubakar Jega, and the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, ACP Auwal Gummi Yakubu, who contributed to discussions on enhancing camp security.
CP Sani commended the dedication of security personnel, urging them to uphold discipline, demonstrate commitment, and remain alert throughout the orientation period. He also assured that the command would provide full support to strengthen their operational capacity.
He reassured corps members, camp staff, and the public that the Kebbi State Police Command would continue to implement robust measures to maintain peace and prevent security breaches, ensuring a safe and conducive environment for all activities.
The Commissioner concluded the visit by stressing that the proactive measures taken at the Basaura camp would serve as a model for security management in other orientation camps across the state.
