The Kano State Police Command has announced the successful rescue of three kidnap victims in two separate operations carried out across Kano and Kaduna States. The operations also led to the recovery of vital exhibits belonging to the suspected kidnappers.
According to the Command, the achievements underscore its unwavering commitment to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes, while ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.
In the first operation conducted on Monday, October 7, 2025, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, acting on the directives of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, launched a rescue mission in collaboration with the Surveillance Team attached to Bebeji Divisional Police Headquarters.
The operation followed credible intelligence about an escaped kidnap victim, identified as 21-year-old Abdul Hamid Bello, who had been abducted and severely assaulted by his captors.
Bello reportedly managed to escape from his abductors and sought help from passersby, who promptly alerted the police authorities.
He later led the police team to the suspected kidnappers’ hideout located in Saya-Saya, Ikara Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Upon arrival at the location, the police team encountered an abandoned camp after the kidnappers fled the scene on sighting the operatives. Another victim, identified as 65-year-old Musa Idris, was found and successfully rescued during the operation.
Items recovered from the scene included one motorcycle and a rope allegedly used by the kidnappers to restrain their victims. Both rescued victims were immediately reunited with their family members and taken for medical treatment.
In a related development, the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad, on Wednesday, October 9, 2025, secured the release of another victim, identified as 19-year-old Ashiru Murtala.
Murtala had been kidnapped on October 5, 2025, in Beli Village, Rogo Local Government Area of Kano State, before being taken to an unknown destination by his abductors.
He was later abandoned by the kidnappers at a sugarcane farm in Hunkuyi, Kudan Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where he was rescued by police operatives following a coordinated search effort.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has directed that all rescued victims receive immediate medical attention and psychological support to aid their recovery.
Bakori assured residents that the Command would not relent until all fleeing suspects connected to the incidents are tracked down and brought to justice.
He emphasized that the Kano State Police Command remains resolute in its mission to rid the state of all forms of criminality, stressing that “there is no hiding place for criminals in Kano State.”
The Police Command commended the professionalism and dedication of the officers involved in the successful operations, while expressing appreciation to members of the public for their continued cooperation and timely information sharing.
The Command further urged residents to remain security-conscious, observe personal safety measures, and report any suspicious movement or persons to the nearest police station for prompt response.
