The Kano State Police Command has assured residents of adequate security arrangements as the state prepares for the annual Takutaha Maulud celebration scheduled to begin on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.
In a goodwill message, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, extended warm festive greetings to the people of Kano, describing the Maulud as a period of reflection, unity, and spiritual upliftment.
CP Bakori said the Command had rolled out a comprehensive security plan to guarantee a serene and hitch-free celebration across the state. According to him, surveillance units, patrol teams, and rapid response squads have already been deployed to strategic locations.
The Police Chief warned that violent behaviors, including thuggery (popularly known as Fadan Yan Daba), armed robbery, and extortion, will not be tolerated under any guise during the festivity. He stressed that anyone found attempting to disrupt public peace will be swiftly apprehended.
“We have given clear instructions to our operatives to deal decisively with troublemakers. Kano is known for its peaceful people, and we will not allow a few elements to tarnish that image,” CP Bakori declared.
The Command also revealed that plain-clothed detectives and intelligence operatives are on standby to identify potential trouble spots and neutralize threats before they escalate.
Residents were urged to use the celebration period as an opportunity to pray for lasting peace and security in Kano and Nigeria at large. CP Bakori noted that sustainable peace remains the foundation for social and economic growth.
The Police boss commended the people of Kano for their cooperation with law enforcement agencies, assuring them that the Command remains committed to protecting lives and property.
He appealed to community leaders, religious clerics, and parents to guide their followers, congregations, and wards against any form of violence or criminal behavior.
“Peace is a collective responsibility. We need everyone’s support to ensure that this celebration is not only joyous but also incident-free,” he added.
To enhance community-police collaboration, residents were encouraged to promptly report suspicious movements or criminal activities to the nearest police station.

In addition, the Police advised the public to download the NPF Rescue Me App from the Play Store for easy reporting of emergencies, or to make use of the Command’s verified social media platforms on Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, and TikTok.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who signed the statement on behalf of the Commissioner, reaffirmed the Command’s readiness to safeguard Kano residents throughout the Takutaha Maulud festivities.
With security measures tightened, the Kano State Police Command wished all residents a peaceful, joyous, and incident-free celebration.
