The Kano State Police Command has recorded another breakthrough in its sustained campaign against crime, with the arrest of two suspected members of a notorious armed bandit syndicate believed to be operating within the state’s border communities.
Acting on credible intelligence from vigilant residents of Farin Ruwa community in Shanono Local Government Area, the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad, in a joint operation with Shanono Division, stormed a suspected hideout in the early hours of Friday, October 24, 2025.
The carefully coordinated operation, conducted around 2:00 a.m., led to the successful arrest of two men alleged to have strong links with armed bandits attempting to infiltrate Kano from neighbouring states.
According to the Police, the suspects are currently in custody and undergoing intensive interrogation to determine the full scope of their criminal network and identify other members still at large.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, who confirmed the development, said the operation demonstrates the Command’s renewed commitment to intelligence-led policing and community collaboration.
He praised the Farin Ruwa community for its prompt and reliable information, describing the partnership between residents and security agencies as a vital tool in preventing crime before it occurs.
“The success of this operation underscores the importance of community participation in our collective security efforts,” the CP said, assuring that the Command will continue to act swiftly on credible leads.
The Police boss urged residents across the state to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious movement or persons in their neighbourhoods to the nearest police formation.
In a related development, the Command has intensified peace-building efforts in Barebari Ward of Makoda Local Government Area following reports of renewed clashes between herders and farmers.
To forestall further violence, the Commissioner of Police convened a high-level peace meeting at the Command Headquarters on Friday, October 24, 2025.
The meeting, which brought together key stakeholders including traditional rulers, community leaders, and representatives of herder and farmer groups, aimed at fostering dialogue and devising lasting solutions to the recurring conflicts.
Earlier, ACP Mohammed Mani Gwarzo, the Area Commander of Dambatta, had led a series of field engagements to calm tensions and strengthen cooperation among the affected communities.
During the meeting, CP Bakori reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property while ensuring that justice and fairness guide the resolution of all disputes.
He assured residents of Makoda and other parts of the state that proactive measures are in place to maintain peace and order, warning that the Police will deal decisively with anyone found attempting to disrupt the prevailing calm.
The Kano State Police Command, through its Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, reiterated its call for continued collaboration with the public, stressing that the fight against crime and insecurity can only be won through shared responsibility and collective vigilance.
