The political landscape of Ikorodu North LCDA witnessed a remarkable show of unity on Thursday, September 4, 2025, when the Executive Chairman, Mayor Ameen Olawale Ibrahim Apanisile, played host to Hon. Olanrewaju Dada Awolaja Mashal, the Accord Party chairmanship candidate in the recently concluded local government elections.
The meeting, which took place at the council secretariat, was marked by warm exchanges, hearty conversations, and a shared commitment to the growth of Ikorodu North.
Hon. Olanrewaju arrived at the council headquarters in company of some of his party officials, signaling a move that many observers have described as an important step toward bipartisan collaboration in local governance.
Speaking on behalf of the visitors, Mr. David Oladimeji, who served as Campaign Director-General during the elections, commended the Mayor for the maturity and statesmanship he has demonstrated both during and after the polls.
According to Oladimeji, their mission was not only to congratulate Mayor Ameen and his deputy on their hard-fought electoral victory, but also to express readiness to work together for the good of the people.
He further noted that politics should be a platform for progress and not division, stressing that the Accord Party had designed development-oriented programs which they were willing to share with the new administration.
“Our candidate had several ideas aimed at improving infrastructure, youth empowerment, and social services within the LCDA,” Oladimeji said. “We believe sharing these ideas with the Mayor will enhance inclusive governance and deliver greater value to our people.”
Responding, Mayor Ameen expressed his gratitude to Hon. Olanrewaju and his team, describing their gesture as one of true patriotism and community spirit.
The Mayor pointed out that his eight years of experience as Vice Chairman had prepared him adequately for the challenges of leadership, assuring that every suggestion brought forward would be studied and, where feasible, incorporated into his administration’s NEW DEAL BLUEPRINT.
Mayor Ameen emphasized that his government was open to partnerships across political divides, saying, “Ikorodu North belongs to all of us, and the only way we can move forward is by joining hands together.”
He also extended an olive branch to the Accord Party members, inviting them to align with the Progressives Party (APC), which he described as “a home for everyone with the vision to serve and contribute to development.”
