The federal government has signalled its readiness to unveil the identities of individuals and networks funding terrorism across Nigeria, a top presidential aide said on Monday.
Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, told journalists that terrorism in Nigeria has evolved into a menace that transcends national borders, posing risks to regional security and economic stability.
Bwala emphasized that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is taking decisive steps to identify and bring to light those who finance and enable violent extremist activities.
“In the next coming days, Nigerians will know who the terrorists are, and those funding them,” he declared, hinting at a major disclosure that could reshape the country’s security landscape.
According to him, terrorism is no longer merely an operational threat but a complex network of financiers, facilitators, and sympathizers whose exposure is critical to dismantling insurgent activities.
The Presidential Adviser said the government has intensified intelligence gathering, relying on advanced monitoring systems and inter-agency coordination to track suspicious financial flows.
Bwala added that disrupting terrorism funding is as crucial as neutralizing armed groups on the ground, noting that financial backers provide the lifeline that sustains attacks.
He explained that the Tinubu administration has been collaborating with security agencies, financial institutions, and international partners to map out the networks enabling terrorism.
The adviser warned that those found complicit in financing terrorism will face severe consequences under the law, signaling zero tolerance for such activities.
Bwala further stressed that the disclosure aims not only at justice but also at public awareness, ensuring Nigerians understand the scope of the threat and the identities of those responsible.
He said the government’s strategy includes tracking cross-border financial operations and closing loopholes that have allowed sponsors to operate with impunity.
The presidential aide urged citizens to remain vigilant, noting that community cooperation and timely reporting are essential in identifying potential terrorism financiers.
Bwala reassured Nigerians that the administration remains committed to protecting lives, properties, and the nation’s critical infrastructure from violent extremism.
