The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced that officers of the 44 Police Mobile Force (PMF) Squadron will embark on combat drills and training exercises in Abuja on Saturday, October 25, 2025.
According to the Command, the exercise will take place at the Police K9/Shooting Range Facility located in Dei-Dei, Abuja.
The Police said the training is part of routine operational exercises aimed at sharpening the tactical efficiency and combat readiness of officers of the 44 PMF Squadron.
The Command noted that the exercise will involve the use of live ammunition as part of efforts to simulate real-life operational situations.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Command, SP Josephine Adeh, ANIPR, assured residents that there was no cause for alarm.
She urged members of the public residing in Dei-Dei and surrounding communities not to panic when they hear gunfire during the training.
Adeh explained that the combat drills are purely routine and meant to enhance the professional competence of officers in response to modern-day security challenges.
She said the FCT Police Command remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism through continuous training and retraining of its personnel.
The Police spokeswoman also cautioned residents to steer clear of the training range and its immediate surroundings during the exercise period.
She stressed that the area will be restricted to authorized personnel only throughout the training session to ensure public safety.
“The Command urges members of the public to keep off the training range and its immediate surroundings throughout the exercise period, as live ammunition will be used,” she stated.
Adeh commended residents of the FCT for their cooperation and understanding, noting that such exercises are crucial to improving police response in real-time operations.
She reiterated the Command’s assurance of continued commitment to the protection of lives and property across the Federal Capital Territory.
The FCT Police Command called on the public to remain calm, law-abiding, and supportive of ongoing efforts by security agencies to sustain peace and safety in the nation’s capital.
