The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed the identification of the father of a young boy involved in a suspected hit-and-run incident at the Apo Roundabout area of Abuja.
The incident occurred on Dec. 10, when the victim, estimated to be between 12 and 15 years old, was found unconscious near a transformer at the Apo Roundabout.
Following the incident, the police issued a public notice on Dec. 11 seeking information that could lead to the identification of the injured boy and his family.
The FCT Police Command said the appeal yielded results after Mr. Adamu Ibrahim came forward and positively identified the victim as his son, Abba Adamu Ibrahim.
According to the police, the identification was carried out in line with established procedures to confirm the child’s identity.
The Command disclosed that the victim is currently receiving medical care at a health facility, where his condition is being monitored by medical personnel.
It added that arrangements are ongoing to ensure the safe and proper reunification of the child with his father, subject to medical advice.
The police expressed appreciation to members of the public for their cooperation and the useful information that aided the identification process.
The Command reiterated the importance of public vigilance and collaboration in safeguarding lives and enhancing crime prevention within the Federal Capital Territory.
