The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, has visited the Mabuchi community in Abuja as part of the Command’s ongoing community engagement and confidence-building initiatives aimed at strengthening security cooperation within the territory.
During the visit on Tuesday, the Commissioner reiterated that security is a shared responsibility that requires the cooperation, vigilance, and active participation of all residents to sustain peace and stability in the FCT.
He explained that the engagement was part of the Command’s broader community policing strategy designed to foster mutual trust between the police and residents while encouraging public involvement in crime prevention and intelligence sharing.
Addressing community leaders, traditional rulers, and youth representatives, the Commissioner noted that effective policing thrives on collaboration, stressing that citizens play a vital role in providing credible information that helps the police act swiftly against threats.
He also urged residents to remain alert and report suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police formation, assuring them that such information would be treated with confidentiality and prompt response.
The Commissioner further emphasized the importance of neighborhood vigilance, saying that when communities work closely with the police, crimes such as robbery, kidnapping, and vandalism can be prevented before they occur.
While acknowledging the challenges faced by the police, he assured the community that the FCT Command remains committed to proactive operations, intelligence-led patrols, and continuous engagement with stakeholders to maintain safety across all districts.
Community leaders who spoke during the visit commended the Command for its visible presence and proactive security efforts, pledging their continued cooperation and support for peace and development in the area.
The Commissioner also reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to deepening community partnerships, promoting civic awareness, and enhancing public trust through open dialogue and regular interactions with residents.
