In his end-of-year message, CP Dantawaye reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to maintaining peace, safety, and public order across Abuja during the festive season.
As part of the 2025 festive season operational plan, the FCT Police Command has deployed 2,202 personnel across strategic locations within the Territory to ensure a peaceful and secure celebration for all residents and visitors.
Personnel have been strategically stationed at places of worship, recreational and event centres, major highways, motor parks, and other public spaces. Their presence is complemented by intelligence-led patrols and increased visibility policing.
Black spots, abandoned buildings, and shanties known to be exploited by criminal elements are under close surveillance, with raids conducted where necessary to forestall illegal activities.
Tactical units, rapid response squads, and patrol teams are actively engaged, supported by intensified vehicular and foot patrols throughout the FCT.
The Command is also working closely with sister security agencies to ensure comprehensive, coordinated, and effective security coverage during the festive period.
Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) units have been deployed to conduct routine sweeps at places of worship and other public gathering points, following directives from the Inspector-General of Police.
General security monitoring has been intensified to promptly detect and neutralize potential threats, ensuring the safety of residents and visitors alike.
The FCT Police Command has reiterated that the use of fireworks, firecrackers, banga, knock-out, or similar explosive devices is strictly prohibited within the Territory. Violators will be arrested and prosecuted according to the law.
CP Dantawaye urged residents and visitors to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and proactive in reporting any suspicious persons, movements, or items to the nearest police station.
