The FCT Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in the fight against armed robbery, arresting six suspects and neutralizing one in a fierce gun duel. The operation, carried out by operatives of the Anti-One Chance Unit, targeted armed robbery syndicates within the Federal Capital Territory and its environment.
On August 6, 2025, at about 08:30 a.m., police operatives on routine patrol spotted a victim being pushed out of a moving vehicle along Kubwa Expressway. The police quickly responded, with one team rescuing the victim, Angel Patrick, and conveying her to Zankwochi Hospital, Mabushi, for urgent medical attention.
A second team of undercover officers pursued the fleeing suspects to the Aso area of Mararaba, Nasarawa State, where a hot chase and fierce gun duel ensued. The suspects were forcefully halted, and five were arrested at the scene.
The arrested suspects include:

The police recovered the gang’s operational vehicle, a dark grey Toyota Corolla, and various exhibits, including:
– *Six ATM cards* suspected to belong to previous victims
– *One jackknife*
– *₦115,000 cash*
– *Other personal items* suspected to belong to previous victims
Investigations revealed that one of the suspects, John Simon, had been arrested in December 2024 for the same offense, charged, and remanded in Kuje Correctional Centre.
The suspects confessed to being “one chance” operators, engaging in the crime for several years. They would push victims out of moving vehicles and rob them of their valuables.
