The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested several suspects for their alleged involvement in armed robbery, drug trafficking, and vehicle theft following a series of coordinated operations across the territory.
The successful operations were carried out between October 9 and 18, 2025, by officers attached to the Command’s Scorpion Squad, Kubwa Division, Life Camp Division, and Mabushi Division. The raids were intelligence-led and targeted at known crime-prone areas within Abuja and its satellite towns.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the operations were part of ongoing efforts by the Command to sustain public safety, protect lives and property, and dismantle criminal networks operating within the FCT.
Acting on credible intelligence, operatives moved swiftly to apprehend several criminal elements who had been terrorizing residents through violent robberies, drug peddling, and car theft. Their arrests, police said, were made possible through community-based intelligence and inter-divisional collaboration.
Among those arrested were three suspected members of a notorious armed robbery gang identified as Manaseh Emmanuel, 36; Dogora Ibrahim, 21; and Ibrahim Idamusa, 40. The trio are said to belong to a syndicate led by one Ibrahim Yakubu, popularly known as “Ycome,” who is already remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre.
Police investigations revealed that the gang had been responsible for a series of coordinated armed robberies in Abuja suburbs, targeting motorists and residents late at night. Their operations reportedly spanned Kubwa, Dutse, and Gwarinpa areas before security operatives closed in on them.
In another breakthrough, the Life Camp Division arrested four suspects — Umar Abubakar, Iliyasu Ibrahim, Usman Ibrahim, and Alkasim Abubakar — for their involvement in multiple robbery incidents. The suspects are believed to be members of a ten-man armed robbery syndicate operating between Kubwa, Life Camp, and Mpape.
During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to several violent operations within the FCT, including attacks on motorists and home invasions. Police said efforts are ongoing to track down other fleeing members of the gang and recover additional stolen items.
Meanwhile, operatives from the Mabushi Division arrested one Bello Mohd Tambuwal for allegedly stealing a 2019 model Toyota Corolla. The suspect was said to have perfected plans to dispose of the stolen vehicle before he was intercepted by officers on patrol.
Also, one Paul Onogwu was arrested after being found in possession of fifteen bags of dried leaves suspected to be Cannabis Sativa. Preliminary investigations suggest that he is part of a larger drug trafficking network supplying narcotics to parts of the FCT.
Items recovered during the various operations include one Toyota Land Cruiser stolen during a robbery, a black 2019 Toyota Corolla with chassis number JTNK4RBE1K3054902, and a Toyota Camry with registration number KRD 391 JF. Other exhibits recovered are one cutlass, one sword, one jackknife, and fifteen bags of suspected cannabis.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Dantawaye Miller, psc, commended the officers and men of the Command for their professionalism, commitment, and prompt response to intelligence reports that led to the successful arrests. He described their efforts as a clear demonstration of the renewed zeal of the FCT Police Command to maintain peace and order.
CP Miller charged all Divisional Police Officers and tactical units to intensify their operations and ensure that the momentum is sustained. He emphasized that the Command would not rest until every criminal hideout within the FCT is uncovered and all perpetrators brought to justice.
The Police Commissioner also assured residents that the Command remains resolute in its mission to make the FCT safe for all. He urged citizens to cooperate with the police by providing credible information that could aid ongoing investigations and future arrests.
