The Ports Authority Police (Western) Command has received a new Commissioner of Police, CP Toyin Agbaminoja, who officially assumed duty on Wednesday as the 33rd Commissioner of the Command.
Her assumption of office followed the retirement of AIG Olanrewaju Olawale Ishola, who was recently promoted and bowed out of active service after years of meritorious duty.
CP Agbaminoja brings with her a wealth of experience spanning over three decades in the Nigeria Police Force, having joined the service in 1994 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police.
A statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASP Isaac Hundeyin, said the new Commissioner’s posting reflects the Inspector-General of Police’s commitment to strengthening leadership within key police formations.
Born in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, CP Agbaminoja is an alumna of the University of Ilorin, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language before joining the Force.
Her police career has seen her serve in several capacities across operational, investigative, and administrative departments of the Force.
She has been deployed to the Kwara State Police Command, the IGP Monitoring Unit in Abuja, the Special Fraud Unit (SFU) in Ikoyi, and the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID).
The statement further noted that she once headed the NAFDAC Enforcement Unit, where she led numerous operations against counterfeit products and regulatory violations, earning commendations for professionalism and diligence.
CP Agbaminoja is well acquainted with the Ports Authority Police Command, having previously served as Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Roro Port Division, Command Traffic Officer, and later as Area Commander, Western Ports.
Her return to the Command as its Commissioner, the statement added, signifies a continuation of her long-standing relationship with the maritime policing environment.
Throughout her career, CP Agbaminoja has achieved several firsts, breaking gender barriers in leadership roles within the Nigeria Police Force.
She was the first female Area Commander of Area ‘M’ Idimu in 2017 and the first female Head of Zonal CID, Zone 2, Onikan, in 2021.
In addition, she became the first female Deputy Commissioner of Police at both the Airport Command in 2023 and the Oyo State CID in 2024, before her elevation to the rank of Commissioner in February 2025.
Before her latest posting, she served as the Commissioner in charge of the Special Enquiry Bureau at FCID, Alagbon, Lagos, where she oversaw high-profile investigations and administrative reforms.
Upon assuming duty in Apapa, CP Agbaminoja pledged to deepen collaboration with stakeholders in the maritime sector to strengthen port security and promote a safer, more efficient operational environment.
She also assured officers and men of the Command of her commitment to professionalism, discipline, and service delivery that aligns with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police.
