The Commissioner of Police in charge of the Anambra State Governorship Election, CP Abayomi Shogunle, PhD, fsi, on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, hosted heads of all security agencies in the state to a strategic meeting aimed at harmonizing operational plans for the forthcoming November 8 governorship election.
The high-level meeting, held at the Anambra State Police Command Headquarters in Awka, brought together Service Commanders from the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
In his opening remarks, CP Shogunle reaffirmed the collective commitment of all security agencies to ensure a peaceful, credible, and violence-free election. He emphasized the importance of inter-agency coordination, intelligence sharing, joint patrols, and professional conduct by all personnel before, during, and after the polls.
The Commissioner also highlighted that the security agencies have jointly reviewed identified flashpoints across the state, developed detailed deployment strategies, and established rapid-response mechanisms to promptly tackle any breach of peace.
In their separate contributions, the Service Commanders pledged total cooperation and restated their readiness to secure voters, election officials, sensitive materials, and critical infrastructure throughout the election period.
They assured residents of Anambra that adequate security measures are in place to guarantee their safety, urging citizens to exercise their civic responsibility without fear or intimidation.
Meanwhile, CP Shogunle and the security heads collectively appealed to political parties, candidates, and their supporters to play by the rules, avoid inflammatory rhetoric, and shun any form of violence capable of disrupting the electoral process.
The statement reiterated that the Anambra State Security Architecture remains resolute and united in ensuring that the will of the people prevails through the ballot box.
