It was a day of pride and celebration at the Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU), Ikoyi-Lagos, as the Commissioner of Police, CP Rose Chollom Dung, mspsp, decorated four Team Managers of the Unit with the prestigious rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP). The promotion, recently approved by the Police Service Commission, marked a significant milestone in the officers’ careers and the Unit’s continued pursuit of excellence.
The ceremony, held at the PSFU headquarters, radiated a blend of discipline and joy as officers, family members, and colleagues gathered to honour the newly promoted team managers. The air was filled with applause and admiration as CP Dung personally pinned the new ranks on the officers, acknowledging their years of service and sacrifice.
In her address, CP Dung praised the officers for their unwavering professionalism and exceptional performance in combating financial crimes. She described the promotion as both a reward for hard work and a call to higher responsibility. “Your new rank comes with greater expectations. The nation and the Nigeria Police Force are looking up to you to lead by example and uphold the values that define our service,” she said.
She reminded the officers that the PSFU’s work is central to national integrity, given its mandate to investigate complex financial frauds. CP Dung urged them to maintain transparency, diligence, and innovation in the discharge of their duties. According to her, leadership in such a specialised unit must be built on accountability and ethical conduct.
The Commissioner noted that the promotion reflected the broader vision of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, to strengthen professionalism within the Force. She encouraged the new CSPs to serve as mentors to junior officers and to embody the values of discipline, teamwork, and public trust.
“The Police Service Commission has recognised your track record, but it is your daily conduct that will sustain that recognition,” she added, urging them to view their elevation as a renewed opportunity to contribute meaningfully to national security and law enforcement reforms.
The event also served as a reminder of the sacrifices made by officers across the country. For many present, the ceremony symbolised a culture of merit and reward that inspires commitment within the Force.
Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, CSP Eyitayo Johnson Olaiya expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Commissioner of Police for her inspiring leadership. He described the recognition as a motivator to work even harder and pledged unwavering dedication to duty.
Olaiya reaffirmed their collective resolve to strengthen the Unit’s fight against economic and financial crimes, promising to uphold the ideals of honesty, professionalism, and service to the nation. “We will continue to justify the trust reposed in us and protect the integrity of the Nigeria Police Force,” he said.
