CP Orutugu Concludes Election Security Advocacy in Awka, Reaffirms Police Preparedness

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc, minps, PhD, has concluded his statewide Election Security Advocacy Tour with the officers and men of the Awka Area Command ahead of the forthcoming Anambra Governorship Election.

The event, which took place on November 1, 2025, at the Awka Area Command Headquarters, marked the final phase of a series of sensitization and capacity-building engagements aimed at strengthening the readiness of police personnel for credible election operations.

During the meeting, CP Orutugu expressed satisfaction with the conduct, discipline, and professionalism displayed by officers throughout the advocacy campaign, which had earlier covered all Area Commands and Divisions across the state.

He noted that the series of engagements were designed to ensure that police personnel were adequately trained, briefed, and mentally prepared for the challenges of election security management.

The Commissioner of Police emphasized the need for officers to maintain neutrality, professionalism, and respect for human rights throughout the election period, stressing that the integrity of the Force must not be compromised.

According to him, the Command remains fully fortified and ready to provide maximum security before, during, and after the election, assuring residents of Anambra State of their safety and protection.

He revealed that all tactical units, intelligence teams, and patrol formations have been placed on heightened alert, while logistics and coordination among sister security agencies have been strengthened to guarantee smooth operations.

CP Orutugu stated that election security requires vigilance, discipline, and commitment, urging officers to demonstrate courage and uphold the core values of the Nigeria Police Force in the discharge of their duties.

He reminded the personnel that their conduct during the election would reflect the image of the Police and influence public trust in the electoral process.

The police chief also called on residents to remain calm, law-abiding, and cooperative with security agencies, assuring them that the Police will not relent in its efforts to ensure peace and order.

He reiterated that collaboration with communities, traditional institutions, and relevant stakeholders remains a central strategy in sustaining public confidence and achieving credible elections.

CP Orutugu encouraged officers to remain focused and shun any form of misconduct or compromise that could undermine the integrity of their operations.

He further assured that all necessary measures have been put in place to address potential threats, with intelligence and surveillance operations intensified across all localities in the state.

The Commissioner lauded the commitment of officers who have shown professionalism throughout the sensitization campaign, describing them as key to ensuring a peaceful electoral atmosphere.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, on Sunday, November 2, 2025, the Command reaffirmed its preparedness and commitment to the protection of lives and property throughout the election season in Anambra State.
