The Lagos–Ore–Benin Expressway came under thorough security review as the Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, psc(+), mnips, conducted an operational assessment along the busy corridor on 20th December 2025.
The visit aligns with directives from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, aimed at boosting security readiness ahead of the festive season.
During the inspection, CP Lawal commended the strong collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), noting that their strategic deployment has significantly improved traffic control and the safety of motorists along the expressway.
The Commissioner also praised the Nigeria Customs Service for its proactive role in facilitating traffic flow, particularly through the removal of barriers that could hinder movement and contribute to congestion.
Addressing members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Ondo State Chapter, CP Lawal urged drivers to remain patient, obey traffic laws, and avoid reckless driving. He specifically warned against operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicants.
In a hands-on approach, the Commissioner engaged officers along the corridor, charging them to perform their duties with professionalism, diligence, and commitment to public safety.
He issued directives to Area Commanders to deploy additional personnel and intensify supervision along the expressway.
Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) within metropolitan areas were instructed to clear all obstructions capable of impeding traffic, sustain visible patrols, and maintain continuous monitoring of high-risk areas.
CP Lawal expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police for his strategic leadership and support, highlighting reforms and technological initiatives that have strengthened intelligence-driven policing across the country.
He reassured commuters and residents that robust security measures have been implemented, with personnel from Area Commands, Tactical Teams, and Divisional Police Stations fully deployed for both overt and covert operations.
The Commissioner emphasized that public cooperation is vital for a safe festive season, urging commuters to report suspicious activities and follow traffic regulations diligently.
The Ondo State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all road users, emphasizing that proactive policing, inter-agency collaboration, and community partnership remain central to effective law enforcement along the Lagos–Ore–Benin Expressway.
