The Kebbi State Police Command was filled with excitement and pride on Wednesday as the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, decorated 37 newly promoted officers with their ranks of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).
The event, held at the Command Headquarters, Birnin Kebbi, was described as an “epoch-making moment” for both the officers and their families who came to witness the milestone in their careers.
In his address, CP Bello M. Sani, standing on behalf of the 22nd indigenous Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D, NPM, congratulated the officers for scaling another hurdle in their professional journey.
He reminded the new Deputy Superintendents that promotion is not just a reward but a call to greater responsibility, urging them to remain committed to the values of discipline, professionalism, and integrity.
The Commissioner also issued a strong warning against corrupt practices and unprofessional conduct, stressing that the police cannot afford to lose public trust in an era where accountability and respect for human rights are paramount.
“Your new rank comes with added expectations. You must lead by example, uphold the dignity of the Force, and treat every citizen with fairness and respect,” he said.
Families, friends, and well-wishers gathered with excitement, snapping photos and congratulating the promotees as the badges of rank were pinned to their shoulders, symbolizing both honor and responsibility.
The atmosphere was emotional, as proud relatives cheered and clapped for their loved ones, who had worked tirelessly over the years to earn this recognition.
Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, DSP Ahmed Abubakar expressed deep gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police and the Police Service Commission for the promotion.
He pledged unwavering commitment to duty, assuring that the new DSPs would remain loyal, professional, and dedicated to the service of the nation.
“This elevation is both a privilege and a challenge. We will not betray the confidence reposed in us. We will continue to give our best to safeguard lives and property,” Abubakar said with determination.
