The Commissioner of Police in Kano State, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has issued a fresh call to action, urging Tactical and Operational Commanders to sustain the tempo of ongoing crime-fighting operations across the State.
Speaking during a high-level conference with senior officers in Kano, the CP praised the resilience and professionalism of the commanders, describing their role as central to the Command’s recent breakthroughs.
At the heart of his address was the success of Operation Kukan Kura, a strategic initiative launched to tackle thuggery, armed robbery, and other forms of violent crime.
According to Bakori, the operation has recorded remarkable gains, including a sharp decline in Daba—the notorious thug culture that has long troubled residents of the State.
The police chief noted that other crimes, from burglary to cult-related clashes, have also seen significant reductions, attributing the achievements to the dedication of officers and the growing cooperation of local communities.
However, Bakori was quick to caution that the fight was far from over. He told the commanders that criminals must either be rehabilitated or decisively brought to justice in line with the law.
“Our success today must not make us complacent,” he warned. “Every officer here has a duty to ensure that peace is not just achieved, but sustained.”
He emphasized that the future of policing in Kano lies in community-centered strategies, where trust and collaboration with residents become the first line of defense against crime.
Bakori stressed that without the active participation of the people, policing would be limited, urging commanders to deepen ties with traditional leaders, youth groups, and civil society actors.
The CP also delivered a stern warning to his officers: corruption and misconduct will not be tolerated under his watch. He described such behavior as a betrayal of public trust and a direct threat to security gains.
“Every commander must lead by example,” he declared. “Discipline, integrity, and service must remain our watchwords.”
Reassuring his men, Bakori pledged the Command’s continuous support in terms of welfare, logistics, and operational resources, insisting that no officer would be left behind in the battle against crime.
He also expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the relative peace Kano currently enjoys, while commending the tireless sacrifices of officers who have risked their lives for the safety of residents.
Looking ahead, Bakori reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to build on its achievements, expand the reach of Operation Kukan Kura, and roll out fresh strategies to outpace criminal elements across the State.
With renewed determination, the Kano Police Command has promised to protect lives and property more aggressively, ensuring that Kano remains one of the safest states in the federation.
