The Kano State Police Command witnessed a moment of pride and celebration on Monday, November 3, 2025, as the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, Ph.D., sfipma, mnim, mnips, masis, decorated 29 newly promoted officers of the Command.
The colourful ceremony, held at the Police Officers’ Mess, Bompai, Kano, attracted top-ranking officers, invited guests, family members, and members of the media who gathered to honour the decorated officers for their hard work and dedication.
The list of promoted officers featured notable figures such as ACP Gambo Chagwa Elijah, Officer in Charge of Veterinary; ACP Nasiru Yusuf, Officer in Charge of Medical; and the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa. Others included CSP Murtala Fagam (DPO Bichi), CSP Mohammed Abdulrahman Kanoma (DPO Bompai), CSP Ansar Muazu Marafa (DPO Nassarawa), CSP Naziru Pindiga (DPO Mandawari), and CSP Saleh Abubakar (DPO Doguwa).
Also among the honorees were CSP Jamilu Bala (DPO Rijiyar Zaki), CSP Mohammed Acida (DPO Tsanyawa), CSP Safiyanu Mustafa (DPO Ganduje), CSP Mustafa Abubakar (DPO Kumbotso), CSP Yusuf Sunusi (DPO Shanono), CSP Adamu Gadama (DPO Takai), and CSP Dansarai Jibrin (DPO Farm Centre). Others included CSP Ibrahim Umar Baso (Admin Officer, Operations), CSP Auwal Jumare (Admin Officer, CID), CSP Malami Abubakar, CSP Zubairu Abdulwahab (State CID), and several officers from the Department of Finance and Administration.
In his remarks, CP Bakori expressed immense pride in the achievements of the newly promoted officers, describing the ceremony as a reward for hard work, dedication, and professionalism in service to the nation. He congratulated them for distinguishing themselves in their various fields and encouraged them to see their new ranks as a call to higher responsibility.
The Police Commissioner lauded the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, for his visionary leadership and continuous prioritization of officers’ welfare and career development. He noted that the promotions reflect the IGP’s determination to strengthen the Force through motivation and merit-based advancement.
Bakori also extended appreciation to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 1, Kano, for his steadfast guidance and unwavering support to the Command. He emphasized that the progress of the Kano State Police Command was largely due to collective effort and strong leadership from the top.
Charging the newly decorated officers, CP Bakori urged them to remain upright, disciplined, and transparent in their duties. “Promotion is not a privilege but a responsibility,” he said. “It demands integrity, dedication, and leadership that inspires confidence among subordinates and the public.”
He further reminded them of the Force’s unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law and protecting citizens’ rights, especially in a dynamic security landscape that demands vigilance and innovation.
The 29 officers promoted included two officers elevated from Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), 21 from Superintendent of Police (SP) to Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), and six from Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) to Superintendent of Police (SP).
Family members and colleagues of the officers were visibly proud, celebrating the milestone with applause and emotional embraces. Many of the newly promoted officers expressed gratitude to the Police hierarchy for recognizing their years of service.
In his closing remarks, CP Bakori reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring peace, law, and order in Kano State. He assured residents that the Command would continue to improve its operational capacity and maintain robust security measures across all local government areas.
The event concluded with group photographs, light refreshments, and a renewed sense of purpose among the officers.
