The Ajesola Solarin Majekodunmi Foundation (ASMAF) has awarded scholarships to five academically gifted but financially disadvantaged female students at its annual fundraising event held at the Muson Center in Lagos.
The event drew esteemed dignitaries, including prominent legal experts, university professors, and top government officials.
Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, commended ASMAF’s commitment to fostering education for underprivileged girls, highlighting the transformative impact of such scholarships on Nigeria’s future.
He described the award ceremony as a celebration of hope, perseverance, and collective responsibility.
Alausa, noted that by empowering young women to pursue tertiary education, ASMAF continues to bridge the gap between talent and opportunity, inspiring hope and progress across the nation.
The scholarships and mentoring opportunities provided by ASMAF have been instrumental in shaping destinies and writing life stories.
ASMAF Founder, Professor Ajesola Solarin Majekodunmi, shared her personal journey, revealing that her passion for supporting indigent female students began when she was a student at the University of Lagos.
She established ASMAF to provide financial assistance to talented female students pursuing professional courses.
Over 1,000 applications were received, and the five awardees were selected based on academic merit and financial need, representing seven geo-political zones in the country.
The courses considered include Law, Medicine and Surgery, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Accounting, and Nursing.
The awardees are among the top candidates selected from a pool of over 1,000 applicants.
They will receive scholarships to pursue their studies in various fields.
This event demonstrates ASMAF’s commitment to empowering young women and promoting education in Nigeria.
