Charges Religious and Societal Influencers to Promote Patriotism and Peace as the Police Command Receives Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere
As preparations intensify for the November 8, 2025, governorship election in Anambra State, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, mnips, PhD, has renewed calls for peace, unity, and patriotism among residents.
The Police Chief made the call on Wednesday, October 23, 2025, while receiving the founder of the Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry, Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, popularly known as Odumeje, at the Police Command Headquarters, Awka.
The visit was part of the Command’s ongoing engagement with key religious and societal figures aimed at deepening non-kinetic peacebuilding strategies ahead of the election.
CP Orutugu emphasized that the Command’s focus goes beyond security operations to include strategic collaboration with influential leaders capable of shaping public behavior and promoting harmony.
According to him, the police under his leadership are committed to ensuring a peaceful and credible electoral process through continuous dialogue with all segments of society.
He noted that leaders with moral and social influence, particularly religious figures, play a vital role in guiding their followers toward lawful conduct and civic responsibility.
The Commissioner charged faith-based organizations, traditional rulers, and social groups to partner with the police in spreading messages of peace and lawfulness during the election period.
He urged religious institutions to use their platforms to educate worshippers on the importance of peaceful participation, tolerance, and respect for constituted authority.
CP Orutugu explained that achieving peace in Anambra State requires collective effort, stressing that the police alone cannot secure the state without the active support of community leaders and residents.
He further assured that the police would remain impartial, professional, and vigilant throughout the electoral process, with measures already in place to guarantee safety before, during, and after the polls.
In his remarks, Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere commended the Police Command for its open-door policy and inclusive approach to peacebuilding.
The cleric offered prayers for divine protection and wisdom for the leadership of the Force, pledging his continued support for the Command’s efforts to ensure a violence-free election.
The visit, according to observers, reflects the growing collaboration between security agencies and community influencers in sustaining public trust and promoting stability across Anambra State.
SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Command, reaffirmed the commitment of the police to community-driven initiatives, describing the engagement as another step toward lasting peace in the state.
