The Anambra State Police Command recently addressed a malicious video circulating on social media, alleging non-compliance with arrest protocols.
The Command clarified that the video was deliberately recorded and shared by mischief makers attempting to evade justice.

Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, said the Intelligence Operatives raided a compound at Ifite, Awka, where suspected internet fraudsters and cult members were reportedly operating. When the operatives arrived, the suspects resisted arrest, locking themselves inside and refusing entry despite the operatives’ proper identification.
The suspects were served arraignment notices and later granted bail, allowing the operatives to complete the necessary court processes. This action aligns with due process and standard police procedure.

In April 2024, the police cracked down on cult activity in Awka, arresting 16 suspected cultists and declaring 21 others wanted.
SP Ikenga said on August 10, 2025, the police arrested a suspected armed robber and member of a separatist group, recovering a stolen vehicle in the process.
Between July 2023 and October 2023, the Command reported arresting 30 insurgents, 39 armed robbery suspects, 38 cultists, and 22 kidnappers, while recovering 119 arms and ammunition.
