In what authorities describe as a major stride in the fight against violent crime, the Anambra State Police Command has arrested a notorious armed robber believed to be behind several deadly operations across the state. The breakthrough came on December 8, 2025, when operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, stormed Iyowa Odekpe in Ogbaru Local Government Area and engaged the suspect in a fierce confrontation.
The arrested suspect, 26-year-old Ugochukwu Uzor, was subdued after sustaining serious injuries during the police offensive. Uzor, long feared for his alleged role in multiple armed attacks, was found in possession of a locally fabricated Beretta pistol and eleven rounds of live ammunition at the point of arrest.
Police sources revealed chilling details about the suspect, including large inscriptions tattooed across his body reading “No Forgiveness” and “No Mercy”—phrases believed to reflect his hardened disposition and the brutality associated with his criminal network.
During interrogation, Uzor reportedly admitted to leading several armed gangs operating within Anambra and neighboring states. He further confessed to orchestrating the abduction and killing of Hon. Azuka Justice, a respected member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, on December 24, 2024. The high-profile murder had sparked outrage and grief across the state.
The arrest has been hailed by security stakeholders as a significant advancement in unraveling criminal syndicates responsible for violent attacks in recent years. Investigators say Uzor’s apprehension is expected to open new leads that may help dismantle the broader gang operations he allegedly commanded.
